Dads Give Us Wings

by Susan M. Keenan

Dads give us wings with which to fly.

They tell us be strong and never cry.

Yet, they fold us up in their strong arms

To protect us from all of life's harms.

Dads give us hopes and thoughts to dream,

Filling us with strength or so, it seems.

They tell us life makes us stronger indeed

And provide all the basics that we'll ever need.

Dads show us things that we never knew

Like how to pitch or throw horseshoes.

They teach us the rules to many a game

And make us proud that we carry their name.
