Some adults are obsessed with every sexual act involving a child, and obsessive adult intervention in the sexual activity of children is itself a form of sexual aggression against children. Once the child becomes the prosecutor's target, such powerful efforts at sexual control may constitute an especially harmful sexual aggression against children.
Fred Berlin, founder of the Johns Hopkins Sexual Disorders Clinic, says too many children end up on sex offender registries. "They shouldn't be stigmatized for the rest of their lives."
