Lawyers: Coach Pregnant in Sex Case
FORT MYERS, FL (AP) -- A former high school tennis coach charged with having
sex with a 16-year-old student is pregnant as a result of their monthlong
affair, their lawyers said.
K.R., 27, was charged last week with unlawful sexual activity with a
minor, a felony carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
She was a teaching assistant and assistant girls tennis coach at Estero
High School
south of Fort Myers. Her contract expired in June.
According to a Sheriff's Office report, K.R. and the 16-year-old said
they had sex 20 times from early July to Aug. 15. The youth's name was not
released.
K.R.'s attorney said she shouldn't have been arrested. And now that she's
pregnant "the media and the law enforcement should just back off and let them deal with their family issues."
