Mother killed, unborn child taken from womb

Worcester, Massachusetts

Boston Herald, 1 August 2009

A 35 year old woman has been arrested in the 23 July 2009 case involving the kidnapping an unborn baby. The child was taken from the womb of her former neighbor, 23 year old Darlene Haynes, whose mutilated body was found wrapped in a sheet and shoved into a closet.

According to relatives, the alleged kidnapper has had five children by at least three men, but none of the children live with her. She had convinced her most recent boyfriend that he was the father of "her" new baby.

Taking refuge at the Pemi Bridge House shelter, the new mother was described by the intake worker. "The mom seemed normal, doting, kissing the baby, she seemed very sweet."
