Child Abuse -- Federal Law
HR 4, vetoed by the President, contained some significant changes in the
child abuse reporting laws. Those changes were considered friendly to
fathers. The American Fathers Coalition and other father's groups helped
with the language in the bill and supported the proposed changes to the law.
According to the gentleman who sent us the information which follows, that
language is not in the new welfare bill being drawn up by Congress. Mr.
Ohme has done a good job of listing the Senators and Representatives who
have control of the bill's fate. For those of you in Texas, having Bill
Archer, Tom Delay, and Dick Armey from your state gives you an unusual
opportunity to influence this bill. Those from Georgia should contact
Newt Gingrich as well as the House leadership.
If you are interested in child abuse issues, particularly the false
abuse claims that are used as weapons in court, call your
Congressman/woman and Senator today - and call the House and
Senate leadership.
What follows is a series of messages from Mr. Ohme received over a 2-day
period. You may wish to keep the phone numbers for future reference.
(E-mail addresses for members of Congress are available but e-mail to
their office is not very effective. Phone calls, faxes, and letters are
much more effective.)

on a lobby effort to replace the necessary language to provide for expunging
false accusations of child abuse from DOJ records.
Whatever your views on HR-4 ~ this is essential!
The Governor's Conference DELETED or EXPUNGED Vital \ Necessary language
that had been agreed upon by House\Senate\and President Clinton for: Final
Child Abuse\Protection section of HR-4,

ALL the Language that specified the FALSE and\or MALICIOUS REPOTS\REPORTING
of ABUSE
**The "False\Malicious reporting Language" MUST Be Restored in New Welfare
Reform Bill at all cost.**
It will arrive in Congress tomorrow (Friday, March 29th, 1996)
You must have everyone in your Information Tree contact every U.S.
Representative and Senator to put back the original (False and\or Malicious
Report )language.
